Exploding Tardis Shoes

I had seen some of these shoes on Etsy and thought "I can do that!". I bought cheap white canvas sneakers and a pack of Sharpies. A few hours and some acrylic varnish later, I have DW shoes!

One shoe says "The pandorica will open" on the outside and the other says "Silence will fall". One of the inside parts has 6-26-2010 and both backs are blue with the crack. I'm so happy with these and can't wait to wear them! van Gogh is one of my favorite artists so I was all over this. ;)

It's DuraClear Varnish in Satin. I got it in the acrylic paint section of a craft store. :)

Oh, those are cool! Yeah, there's a DW pair on Etsy that I'm drooling over (and a couple cat art ones on zazzle) that I can't afford (being unemployed sucks). Hmmm, Sharpies? I may have to give this a try.

I actually did this with some shoes at Target! (Come to think of it, I should probably make a post too, LOL.)
I haven't put on any varnish, though. Would you suggest putting that on, or should I be alright just leaving it as is?

I put the varnish on just to help seal the colors. That way, if I ever need to wash them, they won't bleed and fade.

Ooh. Did you get the Shaun White Tardis-colored shoes? They're what I'm drooling over. I want them to go clearance so I can justify buying them.

Actually, I bought plain whit Ked-type shoes for $9! Used sharpie to mimic the ones on etsy. :D

Thanks so much everybody! I'm planning on making a couple more pairs with different Who themes. I'm thinking one will be enemies and another pair will be Time Lord themed with Gallifreyian (erm... that doesn't look right) colors. :)
