hand puppet MASTER
First of all, huge thanks to everyone who commented on the Doctor puppet. I really appreciated it. *hugs you all*

Now, as promised, I give you

Awwww. Aren't they cute together?

And by popular request,

Okay, so, making these things isn’t very difficult, and I’m not very organised when it comes to art projects anyway, so I’ll give the basic outlines of what I did.

You’ll need:
several pieces of felt in various colours
needle, thread, scissors, hot glue
something circular to trace around
a stencil for a cone shape (or a good eye)
sharpie pens
a bit of poly-fil and 6¢

Body: for the body you want to cut a piece of felt that will fold into a cone and fit over your hand. (Incidentally, the puppets in the Potter Puppet Pals videos are much larger than mine and go well down your forearm. You can make them whatever size you want, but I have small hands and skinny girly wrists so they came out small.)
Anyway, the shape of the stencil turns out like a truncated triangle with a round bottom.

Head: The head is a circle with a bit of neck to stick inside the body. I just traced around a roll of masking tape because it was handy. Add ears when you cut out the head. Tuck them inside as you sew the pieces together so when you turn in rightside out they’ll stick out of the seam. Put a bit of stuffing in the head, then attach it to the body by sewing or gluing.

Trousers and jacket: For the clothing, trace it around the body stencil so that it will wrap around the form of the puppet. Don’t forget to make little tabs on the jacket piece for the lapels.

Arms: The sleeves are the same tapered shape as the body, only smaller. I glued the hand piece to the insides of the sleeves, but there are probably lots of different ways to attach them depending on the puppet’s outfit. I put 3 pennies at the bottom of each arm to weigh down the hands so they’ll flail about when the puppet moves. Add a bit of stuffing, then sew the arms at the shoulders.

Draw the face with a black sharpie. (Simm has squinty eyes. What?) Use a ribbon for the tie.

Hair: Cut jagged pieces of cloth in the appropriate colour and glue them to the head. (Mind the sideburns.)

And voila! You’ve got yourself a puppet.

If anyone would like to suggest who I should make next please tell me in the comments.

Somehow with that illustration, it took my mind a moment to differentiate between procreate and regenerate...

There aren't words to express the adorableness!! You should make a 9th doctor puppet- that would be awesome.
