Knitted plushy TARDIS, and fingerless gloves
Hello! I'm a long-time lurker, but finally got together my photos to post.

I knitted a TARDIS from penwiper337's excellent pattern, and then modfied it to make some fingerless gloves as a gift for a friend.

It was a birthday gift or morebliss. It took me so long I missed her birthday by about a month, but she loved it!

I put it on a cardboard box that I made and stuffed, leaving the top open so the fabric would stretch into a kind of peak. I made the box too big so the fabric distorted. I wasn't happy with it but morebliss told me to shut up, and that it was perfect. *g*

While I was halfway through sewing the pieces together, my friend decided to try it on:

OK, the fingerless gloves. Basically I adapted the plushy TARDIS pattern on the fly, so I don't have it all written down. If there's any interest I'll put something together to post, but if you're a reasonably confident knitter it's not hard at all. You just knit however much you want for the cuff in K1 P1, and then switch to regular stitch and put in dark blue panels as in the original pattern. Make them as long as you can fit, depending on the size of the hands you're making them for. Leaving enough room for the 'Police Box' text.

The hands I was making them for are small, so for average sized hands you might just put some more plain blue stitches around the design.

(ETA: these were also a gift. Maybe I'll make some for myself next. *g*)

The pieces before I stitched them up:

And finished:

I cast off a little too loosely, so instead of sitting snugly the ends near the fingers curled a bit. I stitched through a piece of blue yarn and pulled it tight to combat this, but if you cast off reasonably firmly you shouldn't have that problem.

OMG, I wish someone would knit me fingerless gloves like that. Those are super-duper cool. You should wear them with a Tam of Rassilon ;-)

Thank you!

Actually they were a gift as well. But I do kind of want some for myself! Maybe next winter. It's summer here now.

I love the gloves so much!

So I knitted one side of the TARDIS plushy and was aghast at how gigantic it was. I was going for small, like in the pictures. I'm turning it into a scarf (with just the blue panels in the middle and one complete TARDIS at each end) and getting thinner yarn and smaller needles to do the plushy. Now that I see the one you made, though...

Oooh I was thinking about making a scarf! I put it on the back burner though - by the time I'd finished the plushy and the gloves I was sick to death of blue yarn!

That is Fantastic!
I like the gloves. Longer arm warmers would be fun too.
Properly modified the Plushy Tardis would make a good lapghan as well.

Thank you. :-)

It would make a great lapghan, but man would it take forever! I don't have the patience for big projects like that.

Oh wow, I love fingerless gloves, and I was already thinking of making the TARDIS ipod thingy. I already have one set of gloves/scarf that match tho, so i'm wondering if having those AND the ipod cozy would be a lil much...

These are so beautiful! I'm definitely going to try it when i finish the other things I have to knit for people...

Thank you!

And yeah, the temptation to make TARDIS everything is strong, I know!

Those are all beautiful! Wow - that's some lovely knitting.

I seriously had no idea how big that TARDIS would be when knitted up. It appears to be to-scale with EXTERMIKNIT!, though, which amuses me far more than it should.

I WANT the hand-warmers. So cool!

Thanks so much! And thanks for the awesome pattern!

Yeah I was pretty surprised when I saw how big it was going to be too.
