Another crochet Dalek, and the Fourth Doctor.
There must be something in the air, but the world is definitely about to be taken over by yarn Daleks! Here's my crochet attempt (made before I saw any others, spookily enough), and my Fourth Doctor doll. I made them for a swap on Craftster, along with a crochet Tardis. Check out the gallery there for everyone else's great creations:

Woot! Awesome! Did you use a pattern for that, or did you just wing it?

Cause I think I need one. Or ten. lol EXTERMINATE.

Oh, darling! The Dalek is marvelous, but the wee little Four is making me squeak. :)

Thanks for posting the link to the Craftster page as well - that's some wonderful creativity there!

Thanks for the nice comments! I too fell in love with mini-Tom, I was so pleased at the way his hair & face turned out, I really didn't want to send him to my swap partner. I will probably try & write out a pattern to the Dalek, I'll let you know when I do. I've got orders for a couple more, & I rather fancy making one in outrageous colours myself.

OMG, these are so adorable!
1.) The only way to make a Dalek huggable.
2.) The Tom Baker with his scarf is <3!

Excellent job!

Is there a pattern for your Dalek? I'd love to make one!

Ditto! I might just go at it with appropriately-coloured yarn, but... So awesome.

Also, I have small blue beads. Thoughts on hooking one of those on to make the "eye"?

I've never done crochet with beads before. Possibly you could thread the beads onto the yarn and then slide them into place for the appropriate stitch? I've done knitting with beads and that's how you do it.

Alternatively, you could always sew it into place.

OH, haha, that's not quite what I meant. I know how I'd hook a bead on... I was just wondering if anyone thought it was a decent idea to use for the eye. :D

But thanks for the feedback!

By the way, what did you use to fill up the inside of the Dalek? I've got cotton batting and some beads and was thinking of using the beads in a bag to give the base some weight and then stuffing the batting (tightly) in the rest to give it a firm shape.

This really is such a cute project (who would have thought that a Dalek would ever be called "cute"?).

Did you use any sort of support for the arm, like an internal pipe cleaner?

I've said this on Flickr but these are gorgeous!! Have you written out a pattern? I'd love to add one of these to my growing crochet Who collection.

You wouldn't happen to have a pattern for that, would you? Because I'd like to make a couple for myself to put up in my locker at school and a few for my dad who absolutly loves Doctor Who for him to put around on his desk at work.

If you do, could you e-mail it to me? My e-mail address is knitknerd@aol.com.

Thank you so much.
